Al & Bea’s Mexican Food Restaurant opened its doors on November 15th, 1966 in the heart of Boyle Heights by Albert & Beatrice Carreon.
They opened with a simple dream of bringing their authentic homemade recipes to serve a community with high demand for good genuine Mexican food.
In the 70’s, AL & BEA’S became a favorite lunchtime spot. As customers began sharing with others about this great little place with the best Burritos in town, Al & Bea’s became a favorite anytime spot to eat. Some things never change!

OUR HISTORY & MISSION
Al & Bea’s Mexican Food Restaurant opened its doors on November 15th, 1966 in the heart of Boyle Heights by Albert & Beatrice Carreon.
They opened with a simple dream of bringing their authentic homemade recipes to serve a community with a high demand for good genuine Mexican food. Since that day in our history, the Green Chile and Refried beans have been making their mark ever since.
As we look back in time, the word got out to hundreds of people who were anxious to taste the new authentic Mexican food from Al & Bea’s. The response was more than Al & Bea could have ever imagined. They set a new standard for Mexican fast food in the city of Los Angeles.
Since then, it has become a proud tradition that has created a loyal customer following that continues to be shared with others. Over the years, Al & Bea has never compromised taste, quality, or ingredients. To this day, generations of families who have been customers throughout the years can taste the same quality and flavor as their parents and grandparents did decades ago.
This November 2016, Al & Bea’s will be celebrating their 50th anniversary of the first day they opened their doors for business. They opened with nothing but high hopes and exceptionally good authentic recipes for Mexican food. 50 years later Al & Bea’s is still proudly family owned and operated.
